Signage manufacturers, price per module or price per job? Which rule of thumb is better for signage illumination?
Many signage manufacturers ask us “what is the price per module?”. Lightsign supply high-quality LED so our price per module is often more than competitors. However, there is a dangerous pitfall with this comparison. It can be a good rule of thumb, but only when comparing LED of similar quality and when the same number of modules would be used for both options.
When comparing LED, a better rule of thumb is price per job. Price per module becomes irrelevant if you need to use twice as much material per sign. Signage manufacturers need to be wary of these pricing pitfalls to avoid unnecessary costs.
For example, you can spend half the money per module on LED. But then you need to avoid these pitfalls:
- Brightness – If you need to use twice as many modules to illuminate your sign then you are not saving any money per job.
- Labour Efficiency – installing twice as many of modules increases labour time and cost.
- Power Supply Usage – More LED per job increasing the amount of power supplies you need. This again, results in more costs and more labour.
- Life Span – low price per module LED often cannot compete with the longevity of high-quality modules.
Our LED modules are bright, efficient and long-lasting. When using Lightsign LED, you use fewer modules and fewer power supplies per job. So why not go with Lightsign’s LED modules and get bright, uniform lighting with a 10-year warranty? When using the price per job rule of thumb, signage manufacturers get the full picture.
